Manual Handling for Aged Care Workers
Looking for a manual handling course for aged care? Aged care is one of the most physically demanding parts of the care sector, and manual handling injuries are among the most common workplace injuries in the industry. Under WA’s Work Health and Safety laws, employers have a duty to manage the risk of hazardous manual tasks, and workers have a responsibility to follow safe systems of work (Safe Work Australia, Hazardous Manual Tasks Code of Practice).
This manual handling training for aged care workers covers the everyday tasks aged care staff are asked to do safely: assisting a client from bed to chair, supporting someone with limited mobility, and using equipment like hoists and slide sheets. It’s designed to reduce injury risk for both worker and client, and to meet the manual handling expectations most aged care employers set for their staff.
If you’re building a broader aged care skill set, our Aged Care Refresher short course and aged care courses cover this alongside other core skills.
Manual Handling for Nurses & Support Workers
Nurses, student nurses and support workers face manual handling risks daily, from transferring patients to using mobility equipment on the ward, in a facility, or in a client’s home. This manual handling course for nurses and support workers is a common choice ahead of clinical placement, or as an employer-mandated compliance requirement.
It pairs well with our Provide CPR course if you need both skills covered in one visit – see Bundle Packages below. Nursing students already receive the discounted $85 rate for Manual Handling, in line with our other nursing-student pricing. If you’re after a fuller first aid skill set, our First Aid course is also available separately.

Certificate & Refresher – How Often to Renew
A Manual Handling certificate doesn’t carry a strict regulatory expiry date, but most aged care, disability and healthcare employers expect staff to renew their manual handling training every 12 months, so skills and technique stay current with workplace procedures.
If it’s been close to (or more than) 12 months since you completed this course, you don’t need to repeat the full half-day session. Our Manual Handling Refresher course is a shorter, practical session built specifically for workers who’ve already completed this Manual Handling course and just need to keep their skills and certificate current.
In short: this course is the right starting point if you’re completing manual handling training for the first time. The refresher is the right choice if you’ve done it before and are due for a renewal.
