When it comes to caring for senior citizens who can no longer care for themselves, special training is required. We offer the required aged care courses at our Perth facility, in addition to offering a variety of health care and disability training courses. You’ll be amazed at what a Certificate 3 can do to launch your aged or disability care career.
Six weeks to a new career
Our training courses are all delivered to the highest standard and we are one of the most respected health and aged care training facilities in Perth. In order to work in this specialised industry, you need a minimum Certificate 3 in Individual Support, which you can achieve in a minimum of six weeks at our high quality training centre. The training is intense, designed to make sure you are suitable for this challenging and rewarding field.
Our courses in aged and disability care include:
- Individual support
This is a Certificate 3 course and is the entry level required to work as a care worker. This qualification reflects the role of workers in a community and/or residential setting. The course runs for a minimum of 6-7 weeks and will include two and a half weeks in a classroom setting; the remaining weeks are spent at an aged care facility or disability care organisation, where you will gain practical experience.
- Ageing Support
This qualification is a certificate 4 course and is aimed at people who already have some knowledge, experience of qualifications in the Aged Care or equivalent sector. The course is a blend of classroom based and flexible studies.
- Disability support
If you’re interested in expanding on your skills and knowledge to work with people with disability, then this course is for you. The certificate 4 course is completed through a combination of attendance at training sessions, home study and practical workplace experience.
- Leisure and Health
If you’re interested in expanding on your skills and knowledge to help people with disability or care needs participate in leisure and social activities, then this course is for you. The certificate 4 course is completed through a combination of attendance at training sessions, home study and practical workplace experience.
- First aid support
It’s an unpleasant thought, but accidents happen. If an accident happens in the workplace, don’t be a helpless witness. A first aid support course can go a long way to helping save a life, which is why it’s important to have at least a basic knowledge of first aid.
- CPR (Cardio pulmonary resuscitation)
This 2 hour session can be completed individually or as a part of the first aid course.
- Medications
This course can be completed as a unit of competency or as a non-accredited course. It is suitable for care workers who are required to assist clients with medication as part of their work duties.
- Dysphagia
This course can be completed as a unit of competency or as a non-accredited course. It is suitable for care workers who are required to assist clients who have swallowing difficulties.
We enlist the support of registered and enrolled nurses for each of our courses, reflecting our commitment to taking care of our more senior or vulnerable citizens.
In addition to training services we also serve as a staffing agency to the aged and health care industries. We provide certified and qualified staff to fill temporary vacancies in various health and aged care facilities in Perth and throughout Western Australia.
Once you have completed your basic training, you can study further or seek employment. Alternatively, you could start working in the field and continue your studies at the same time. Whatever you decide, we are happy to help.
