What is the HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medications course?

The HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medications course is an accredited unit of competency that provides students with the skills and knowledge to safely assist clients with their medication in residential and community settings.

Who should take the Medication Administration course?

This course is suitable for healthcare workers, support staff, and caregivers who are responsible for assisting clients with medication in residential or community care settings.

What skills will I learn in the Medication Competency Training?

Anyone whose role involves assisting clients with medication in a residential or community care setting, and whose employer requires formal, nationally recognised evidence of that competency – commonly aged care, disability and NDIS support roles. 

Can support workers administer medication after this course?

How long does medication competency last?

Your HLTHPS006 Statement of Attainment doesn’t carry a government-mandated expiry date – it’s a permanent record of the unit you’ve completed. That said, many employers set their own review or refresher timeframes as part of their internal policies, so check with your workplace if you’re unsure.
